There’s no doubt about it, there’s something about Essex – the butt of many a joke, a dedicated tv show and now a novel approach to personal injury.

Focused on becoming the leading personal injury claim solicitors in Essex, Lloyd Green solicitors have launched a new website, centred around a brand concept called “for the people“. The idea is that, as with almost everything else now, with the bombardment of marketing, both online on the tv and radio, it’s all too easy when thinking about compensation claims such as traffic accident claims or whiplash to simply remember no win no fee or 100% compensation. we are probably all familiar with these concepts but can you name 5 personal injury law firms who offer these ?

Lloyd Green’s concept is that, if you hardly mention personal injury but instead focus on a concept which is very simple, people will remember that. Maybe they are right. The other aspect of their message which may well resonate is that local people want local services when it comes to things that matter. Making an injury claim or in fact any legal issue requires a crucial relationship of trust and confidence between solicitor and client. Having someone local that you can meet and get to know, rather than a faceless and nameless claims handler is far more preferable according to Lloyd Green, and so the message “for the people” extends really to “for the people of Essex” or “for local people”.

One other aspect of the new offering from this firm is that they have hooked up with a local radio station and are sponsoring a local charity.. This is another trend – solicitors generally and perhaps personal injury claims lawyers in particular, do not have a great reputation with the public who tend to, often incorrectly, perceive them as “fat cats”. By sponsoring a charity or, giving something back, this hopefully further indicates a commitment to the community.

We wish the firm luck with this new concept, let’s see how it pans out.

Police personal injury claims

The Freedom of information Act is starting to throw up more and more fascinating information, as specialists in submitting requests become ever more adept at finding questions which may disclose interesting information. Many of these requests tend to indicate that, perhaps unsurprisingly, to a degree, those working in public service to an extent mirror societal trends. Somehow, we expect, for example, our police to be somehow different, somehow as paragons of society, whereas in fact, they are of course members of society just like us all.

The above tends to be borne out by the increasingly publicised issue of the so-called “compensation culture” which has become embedded in our society. In response to a recent FOI request, the following very interesting facts were disclosed :-

Personal Injury claims made by police included 1 against Herts Constabulary resulting in an award of £550,000.00 for a broken elbow, which led to complications

A total of more than £12million has been paid by a number of police forces for personal injury damages in the last 5 years

Interestingly, the North West is the epicentre of personal injury lawyers and claims companies and the highest amount paid by a police authority was by greater Manchester not the Met

Strange claims resulting in damages payments include £14,000.00 paid to a policeman who claimed for tinnitus caused by buzzers on the doors of police station cells.
